On the afternoon of May 29th, Tsinghua University's School of Environment and Tyumen State University (TMU) held a bilateral meeting on environment and sustainable development in a combination of online and offline methods. The meeting was jointly organized by the School of Environment of Tsinghua University and the Laboratory of Sedimentology and Paleo-evolution of Tyumen State University, with the aim of exploring opportunities for cooperation between the two sides in the field of environment and sustainable development. Tsinghua University Vice President Wang Hongwei, Dean of the School of Environment Liu Yi, Tyumen State University Vice Presidents Tolstikov Andrei and Sechenova Ekaterina, Head of the Laboratory of Sedimentology and Palaeontological Evolution Kuzyakov Yakov, and relevant researchers from both sides attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Prof Xu Ming, Director of theDivisionof Environmental Biology, School of Environment, Tsinghua University.

In his speech, Wang Hongwei congratulated the successful organization of the talks. Liu Yi delivered a welcoming address, expressing his delight at witnessing the commencement of a long-term collaborative journey between Tsinghua University and Tyumen State University. He highlighted the focused efforts of Tsinghua University's School of Environment in addressing China's environmental challenges and promoting the advancement of China's ecological civilization and sustainable development. Similarly, Tyumen National University is dedicated to establishing a new paradigm of higher education, serving human development, society, and environmental enhancement through science and education. Drawing on a shared interest in sustainable development and carbon emission reduction, the two institutions have forged a robust cooperative relationship.
