On March 28, Elsevier officially released the 2022 list of “Highly Cited Chinese Researchers”. Eleven professors from School of Environment at Tsinghua University, namely Deng Shubo, Hao Jiming, He Kebin, Hou Deyi, Hu Hongying, Huang Xia, Li Jinhui, Li Junhua, Liu Huijuan, Qu Jiuhui, and Wang Shuxiao (in alphabetical order by name), were included in the list for the field of Environmental Science and Engineering.

The 2022 Highly Cited Chinese Researchers list utilized the globally authoritative citation and index database Scopus as the statistical source for Chinese scholars' research achievements with the method developed by Shanghai Ranking Consultancy. A total of 5216 individuals from 504 universities, enterprises, and research institutions were listed, covering 10 disciplines and 84 first-level disciplines designated by the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China. In the field of Environmental Science and Engineering, 136 scholars secured a spot on the list.

This marks the ninth release of the Highly Cited Chinese Researchers list by Elsevier since its inaugural publication in 2015, attracting considerable attention from both domestic and international media as well as scholars.
