Li Xiao,a Ph.D. student from Class of 2012 at SOE, THU, was recently elected as President of the Student Chapter of the International Society for Industrial Ecology (ISIE Student Chapter).

Trained in both Economics and Environmental Studies in China and Europe, Li Xiao is doing his doctoral research on industrial ecology under the supervision of Associate Professor Shi Lei. He was elected as Board Member of the ISIE Student Chapter in 2012, and has taken an active part in the administrative activities of the student chapter since then. Together with other board members, he successfully organized the 3rd Symposium on Industrial Ecology for Young Professionals in June 2013, in Ulsan, South Korea.

As the international academic society in the field of industrial ecology, the ISIE attaches great value to nurturing the next-generation industrial ecologists. Its student chapter was formed in 2002, and has become an important part of the ISIE. The ISIE Student Chapter gathers nearly 1,000 student members from all around the world, providing them with opportunities for networking, research collaboration and career development, and facilitating students’ participation and contributions at the ISIE.
