Prof. Timothy R. Filley from Purdue University attended the 47th Environmental Forum and delivered a speech on June 25 entitled, “Controls on Soil Organic Matter during Woody Plant Expansion in a Degraded Grassland”.

During his speech, Prof. Filley introduced the function of grassland in ecosystems and the impact which thicketization in grassland has on eco-environment. According to his relavant research, Prof. Filley also described the factors which affect the stability of organic matters, as well as the parameters of physical sieving.

Prof. Yu Gang, Dean of SOE, presided over the forum. Around 20 faculty members and students were present.
