The 33rd Environmental Forum: Environmental Movement and Issues

Oliver J. Hao, professor of the University of Maryland, gave a lecture on “Environmental Movement and Issues” at the Environmental Forum held on October 8th.

Prof. Hao presented a chronological review on the significant environmental events in human history,  and pointed out that the population growth and the consumption for human activities are the main reasons for environmental degradation. He addressed that the influence of these events on human health, society and economy is incalculable. Furthermore, enormous expenses are needed to remediate the polluted soil and water.

Prof. Hao is the honorable member of the American Civil Engineer Society, editor of Chemosphere, and associate editor of Critical Review in Environmental Science and Technology.
