The 2012 annual general meeting of the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development (CCICED), with the theme—Regional Balance and Green Development, was held in Beijing from December 12 to 14. Vice Premier of the State Council Li Keqiang, also the chairman of CCICED attended the opening ceremony. The meeting elected the members of the 5th session of the Council, among whom were SOE professor and CAE academician Hao Jiming, Dean of the Institute of Low Carbon Economy He Jiankun, and Professor Hu Angang from Tsinghua School of Public Policy and Management.Experts also had discussion on the policy research program of Regional Atmosphere Pollution Integrated Control Research lead by Tsinghua.

CCICED is a high level nonprofit international advisory body composed ofsenior Chinese and international government leaders and prominent experts in the field of environment and social development. Based on the policy need of the Chinese government, CCICED mainly offers projects on strategy research or some special topics about the trends in the realm of international environment and development along with other key environmental issues of China. Chinese and foreign experts are invited to participate in these projects and give strategic and early warning policy recommendations to state leaders and decision makers of all levels in China.
