The 7th International Conference on Waste Management and Technology (ICWMT) was held in Beijing on September 5~7.

Professor Hao Jiming, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Dean of the Environmental Science and Engineering Institute, was chair of the steering committee and delivered the opening speech. Professor Qian Yi, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, also gave a report on circular economy. Professor Li Jinhui of SOE, Executive Secretary of BCCC China acted the Chair of the Conference.

Ms. Li Lei, Deputy Director-General of Department of Pollution Prevention and Control of the Ministry of Environment Protection, and Mr. Heidelore Fiedler, Official of UNEP, were present and delivered speeches. 48 experts gave reports covering areas of solid waste management, circular economy, urban mining, E-waste, urban waste, rural waste, dangerous waste, industrial waste, municipal solid waste and sewage sludge treatment. The proceeding of this conference contained 120 full-text papers from 30 national research institutions, and around 450 representatives from enterprises and the government attended the meeting.

The 7th ICWMT was co-sponsored by Tsinghua University, the National Center of Solid Waste Management, UNEP China Office and Stockholm Convention Regional Centre for Capacity-building and the Transfer of Technology in Asia and the Pacific, and was organized by the Society of Solid Waste of Chinese Society for Environmental Science and Basel Convention Coordinating Centre for Asia and the Pacific (BCCC China).
