The 2011 General Assembly of Beijing High Morality Prize Committee was held in Beijing on Jan 5. Li Shixiang, Standing Committee and Secretary of Beijing Municipal Party Committee and Deputy Director-General of Beijing High Morality Prize Committee, declared the list of Beijing High Morality Prize, which is sponsored by Beijing Municipal Publicity Department, Beijing High Morality Prize Committee Office and the Beijing Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau. Academician Hao Jiming from SOE received the prize.

Hao Jiming was elected as Member of Chinese Academy of Engineering in 2005. His research mainly focuses on Air Pollution Control Engineering. Currently, he is the leader of the National Acid Rain Control Plan and Countermeasure. For example, he suggested the designated control areas for Acid Rain and Sulfur Dioxide reduction, and it was accepted and implemented by the State Council and played a leading role to determine China’s acid rain control measures. Moreover, he established a plan for city motor vehicle pollution control, which aims to promote China’s motor vehicle pollution control process worldwide. His research interests also include the study of characteristics, causes and control strategy of atmospheric compound pollution, and he further developed the theory and solution for air quality improvement in large cities. As a leading expert, he led the team which is responsible for Air Quality Protection Measures for the 29th Olympic Games in Beijing. Due to his hard work in environmental research and teaching, he has won more than ten national prizes and awards, including the 1st prize of National Science and Technology Progress, 2nd prize of Natural Science of China, four times the 1st prize of ministerial Science and Technology Progress, and twice the 1st prize of National Higher Education Teaching Achievement. Furthermore, he published a number of books, including Air Pollution Control Engineering, Handbook of Coal Sulfur Dioxide Pollution Control Technology, Critical Loads of Acid Deposition and its Application, Pollution Control of City Vehicle emissions, Physical and Chemical Features of Respirable Particles from Combustion Sources, etc.
