The 7th Chinese International Forum on Environment and Development was held in Beijing Guoyi Hotel on September 22, 2011, sponsored by the All-China Environment Federation along with the Ministry of Environmental Protection, National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Land and Resources, Ministry of Water Resources, and Ministry of Agriculture. The theme of the forum was to seek new ideas and measures to improve the country’s environmental quality in the next five-year plan. Jing Wenyong, Professor from the School of Environment, Tsinghua University, also made a speech on reform and innovation of current environmental protection institutions. This speech pointed out obstacles exists to the development of environmental protection systems and proposed suggestions on the strategic reform and development of state environmental protection. Nearly 400 officials, experts and representatives from environmental NGOs, famous enterprises and news media attended this meeting.
