The 5th National Seminar on Construction Issues of Environment Discipline was held in Tianjin from Dec 17 to 18. The seminar was co-hosted by School of Environment, Tsinghua University (SOE) and School of Environmental Science and Engineering (SESE), Tianjin University (TJU). Liu Zhidong, Vice president of TJU, delivered a welcoming speech. Yu Gang, Dean of SOE, and Chen Guanyi, Dean of SESE, co-presided over the seminar. Deans of School of Environment from 16 national key universities attended.

The topic of this seminar is “the significance, task and measures of constructing the world first-class environment discipline”. All attendees reviewed the history of the development of environment discipline in China and analyzed main jobs for future construction. It was at last regarded as the key way of building the world first-class discipline that strengthening cooperation on personnel training, scientific research, social services and suchlike among all universities.
