The 1st forum for Deans of school of environment in universities across Taiwan straits, jointly sponsored and co-hosted by the School of Environment, Tsinghua University (THU) and the Graduate Institute of Environmental Engineering, National Taiwan University (NTU), was held in NTU on October 28-30, 2011.

This forum was initiated aiming at promoting the development of the two schools of environment in universities. The theme this year was “Personnel training mode and core courses in the field of environmental protection”. Attendees introduced respectively the development history and characteristics of their environmental disciplines and the personnel training target on account of both the goal of school study and the social needs. Reports on basic and professional curriculum provision and ways of students’ evaluation and incentive were also given. After hearty discussion regarding the way of discipline development and cooperation, all reached an agreement on curriculum development, student exchanges, encourage and rewards, etc. The 2nd forum shall be held in THU next year.
