The signing ceremony for the 3rd period (2011-2015) of cooperation between the School of Environment, Tsinghua University (SOE) and Hach was held in the SIEBB on December 2. The director of Overseas Projects Office of Scientific Research & Development of Tsinghua University Ma Jun, Dean of the School of Environment (SOE) Yu Gang, Senior Vice President of Hach Asian Pacific Region Zhou Dexiang signed the cooperation agreement.

Dean of SOE Yu Gang and Senior Vice President of Hach Asian Pacific Region Zhou Dexiang reviewed the cooperation between the two parties in the past decade. Cooperation between SOE and Hach started in 2001, following the idea of “Combined Strengths, Complement each other, and Mutual Benefiting”. Through the cooperation during the 1st phase (2001-2005) and the 2nd phase (2006-2010), the two sides carried out lots of efficient work in the construction of water quality laboratory monitoring, professional personnel training on environmental protection and social services, thus promoting the development of both sides and bringing good results to the environment and society.

During the 10th Anniversary of the successful cooperation between the School of Environment, Tsinghua University and Hach, the two sides signed a cooperation agreement for the 3rd phase (2011-2015) in 2011. Based on the current cooperation, they will continue to carry out work including the construction of water quality monitoring joint laboratories, set up SOE– Hach Scholarship, offering sponsorships for Tsinghua Environment-friendly Science & Technology Competition, and fund Environmental and Urban Sustainable Development Advanced Projects. Meanwhile they will start some joint research projects for water monitoring and develop some water quality monitoring techniques and equipment suitable for China and some other developing countries.

Wang Changyuan, the Deputy Secretary-General of Association of China Mayors, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development (MOHURD), Wang Yeyao, Vice Chief of China environmental monitoring station, the Ministry of Environmental Protection (MEP), Tong Qingyuan, Vice President of Beijing Tsinghua Urban Planning & Design Institute, Huang Jiye, Vice President of Hach China Sales, Lin Yiyan, Director of Hach Asian Pacific Market, Liu Wenjun, Liu Jianguo, Vice Secretaries of SOE Committee of the CPC attended the signing ceremony. The assistant to the Dean of SOE Liu Shuming hosted the ceremony.
