The 64th environmental salon was held in the lecture hall of SOE in the afternoon of August 26th. The topic delivered this time was  “the consistant management of rivers and wetlands in Europe” .  Martin J. Wassen, Dean of the Department of Innovation and Environmental Sciences of University Utrecht, was invited to give a speech. Nearly one hundred teachers and students attended this salon. It is regarded as a component for strengthening the professional education of new graduates of SOE. The secretary of SOE Committee of the CPC Du Pengfei presided over it.

Several models of water environment ecological management were discussed in the lecture, including the hydrological model, empirical model based on biodiversity and species variation, the integrated model based on the water environment, ecological environment, species variation and biodiversity.

Professor Martin’s research area covers Landscape Ecology, Vegetation Science, and Ecohydrology focusing on impacts caused by biogeochemical cycles and ecosystem cycles. He has published more than 70 papers in high-esteemed journals like Nature, PNAS, Ecology and The American Naturalist.
