Tsinghua-Yale Advanced Seminar for Environment and Urban Sustainable Development, co-organized by Tsinghua University, Yale University and China Association of Mayors, opened in SOE on June 7.

    Hu Heping, Secretary of the Tsinghua Committee of CPC, addressed the opening ceremony. Vice Minister of Ministry of Housing and Urban-rural Development of China Qiu Baoxing, Principal of Yale research class Prof. J. Alan Brewster, Academician Qian Yi, Dean of SOE Yu Gang, Secretary of SOE Committee of the CPC Du Pengfei and all seminar members attended the opening ceremony, which was presided over by Deputy Secretary of China Association of Mayors Wang Changyuan.

    Tsinghua university and Yale university initiated the seminar in 2003, aiming to offer cadres from large and medium-sized cities and central and state ministries advanced training on city construction and management, sustainable development, environment protection, conservation culture construction, energy and coping with climate change. The seminar is expected to improve senior cadres’ awareness of environment protection and sustainable development, promote the construction of environment friendly society and conservation culture and enhance the ability to develop the cities scientifically.
