The 26th Environmental Forum invited Academician Hou Li’an to give a lecture on “Nuclear Leakage and the Pollution Control” at SIEEB on May 27. Dean of SOE Yu Gang, Professor Huang Xia and Wang Hongtao, and more than 40 students attended the lecture.

    Hou looked back on the nuclear accidents in history, and illustrated the hazards and safety protection of nuclear radiation. He then introduced some research on treatment of radioactive contamination and looked into the future research. He said the nuclear crisis should not change the nuclear power strategy in China. Instead, we should focus more on the prevention of nuclear accidents and improve the safety of nuclear power.
