Dissertation defenses of SOE undergraduates and graduates in 2011 were successfully held at SIEEB in June.

    A total of 82 undergraduates which were divided into 3 groups joined the defense. Prof. Huang Xia, Prof. Zhang Xiaojian and Prof. Liu Jianguo chaired each group respectively. Over 40 teachers including Secretary of SOE Committee of the CPC Du Pengfei joined the defense as judges.

    The research fields of undergraduates in 2011 covered various research areas in water, gas and waste treatment, environmental policy, environmental planning and design. Various students from all divisions of SOE joined the defense and undergraduate respondents need to answer questions of teachers from other divisions; this promoted the communication of research findings among all divisions and effectively orientated other undergraduates towards the interesting scientific researches.

    Defense of master graduates of 2011 was also held at SIEEB from June 2 and 3. A total of 63 master graduates were divided into 6 groups, where Prof. Wang Hongtao, Prof. Jiang Jianguo, Prof. Liu Xiang, Prof. Zuo Jian’e and Prof. Wang Wei chaired the 36 member defense Committee respectively, along with 36 teachers who joined the defense.

    Among these master graduates, there were 37 students of environmental science and engineering, 7 students of civil engineering, 12 ME students of environmental engineering and 7 international students.
