Introduction

The Tsinghua-Padova Dual Master's Degree Program guided by the desire to strengthen the relations and cooperation in the field of solid waste management between Department of Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering of Università degli Studi di Padova (UNIPD-ICEA) and School of Environment of Tsinghua University(Tsinghua-SOE), will be of particular interest to UNIPD students wishing to increase the depth of their expertise in the several areas of solid waste management in which SOE is especially strong and to Tsinghua students wishing to expand the breadth of courses offered by ICEA, while also introduces new opportunities for both students to tackle some of the most challenging environmental problems in the world and connects them with influential leaders in China and Italy and elsewhere.

Course of Study

• All students are required to take courses at Padova University for a total of 150 ECTs and at Tsinghua University for a total of 23 CC; A research thesis defense conducted at Tsinghua with the presence of at least one professor from UNIPD is also required;

• At most 22 ECTs can be transferred as 11CC of Specialized Courses for Tsinghua degree;

• Both Universities will assign advisors for students.

• For students of UNIPD, a study sequence of 2.5-3years totally is recommended as follows: the first year at UNIPD for course learning, followed by one and a half years at Tsinghua University for course learning and a research thesis. Please see for more information.

• For students of Tsinghua, a study sequence of 3 years totally is recommended as follows:

a half year at Tsinghua for course learning, followed by one and a half years at UNIPD for course learning, and a half year at Tsinghua for a research thesis.

Admissions

Applicants must apply to and be admitted under normal admissions procedures determined separately by each school. While neither school will be involved in the admissions criteria for the other, administrators at both schools may discuss dual applicants, when appropriate.

For students from Padova, their application for admission to SOE, Tsinghua should be completed during their first year of study at UNIPD. For students from Tsinghua, their application for admission to UNIPD should be completed during their first semester of study at SOE, Tsinghua.

Costs

Students participating in the Dual Degree Program shall only pay tuition fees to their home institution. Only supplementary fees (e.g., revenue stamps, regional fees for accommodation, additional compulsory insurance) shall be paid to the host institution. Students are responsible for all their travel, accommodation and living expenses. The host institution undertakes to facilitate the arrival of the students and to put at their disposal all the existing services and study grants/scholarships, if available.
