Zhang Yuchun started working at the Department of Environmental Engineering in 1974. His research interests included water pollution control and treatment, drinking water activation, environmental assessment and planning, research, development and promotion of high-efficiency magnetized descaler in drinking water, ecology, exhaust gas purification, etc. He served as the consultant and editorial board member of China Environmental Protection Information under the National Development and Reform Commission. He retired as an associate researcher in 2010.
