Jiang Zhanpeng started working at Tsinghua University in 1959 after graduating from the same university. He worked at the Division of Water Supply and Drainage and the Division of Environmental Chemistry, engaged in research and teaching and served as the Deputy Director for Academic Affairs. His research interests included water supply and drainage, municipal engineering, water treatment technology, water quality safety and purification theory and technology. He wrote many course textbooks such as Advanced Chemistry and Environmental Engineering. He retired as a professor in 2004.
