Fu Guowei started working at Tsinghua University in 1955 after graduating from the same university.He served as the director of Division of Water Supply and Drainage within the Department of Civil Engineering and the director of Division of Environmental Planning and Management within the Department of Environmental Engineering successively. He used to be the director of the academic committee of Tsinghua University and the DEE. His academic position included: Member of the Environmental Protection Group of the State Science and Technology Commission, Director of the Society of Environmental Sciences, Vice Chairman of the Water Environment Society, editorial board member of six core journals, Special consultant to the Ministry of Environmental Protection and the Ministry of Water Resources. He retired as a professor in 2000.
