Background

Among a range of global environment issues, climate change, one of the most urgent, has the widest influence and involves in all aspects of the society. Climate governance has gone to the historical stage of cooperation and common solution among various countries ever since the United Nations General Assembly adopted the "United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change" in 1992. After experiencing the period of "Kyoto Protocol", the 2015 Paris Agreement marked a new stage in climate governance. As a platform for countries to cooperate with each other, the Conference of the Parties (cop) has the role of establishing international rules for cooperation among countries to solve global environmental problems.

Facing the world and focusing on climate change issues, Tsinghua University Model United Nations Climate Change Conference is the first Model United Nations conference organized by college students from Global Environment Program of School of Environment, Tsinghua University, who are trained by excellent professors to develop solid knowledge base and broad international vision of environmental engineering. Tsinghua University Model United Nations Climate Change Conference provides a professional platform for young people to understand climate change issues, develop climate change-related public awareness, and participate in climate governance and try to make real changes that might affect more people's understanding of climate change affairs.

Meanwhile, the Conference has invited the world's most authoritative experts in the field of climate change and negotiating experts who have participated in the negotiations of the United Nations Climate Change Conference for many years. It will be a great oppprtunity these experts provide training for delegates and answer questions from delegates at any time during the Conference.

In addition to face-to-face communication with experts and professors, the most professional and practical climate change negotiations experiences, and support to conduct truly influential climate actions, the active delegates will receive participation certificates and souvenirs, and the most outstanding delegate may have the opportunity to participate in an fully sponsored international conference.

You are required to prepare an English resume in advance and attach it to the questionnaire.

The questionnaire may take 2-3 minutes to complete.

Expenses

The attendance is FREE for all delegates.

However, we will charge the selected delegates adeposit of 50 yuan as a guarantee for conference participation, which will be returned after the end of the conference.

The conference is expected to be held offline. Meals will be provided during the conference.

However, if you do not live in Beijing, you need to pay for your own transportation and accommodation expenses.

Deadline

The deadline for registration is 7 August, 2021.

We will inform you whether you are selected or not 5 working days after the registration deadline.
