Project Introduction
Global Challenge Lab (GCL) project is an international project jointly organized by Tsinghua x-lab, the Imperial College London Enterprise Lab and the Technical University of Munich (TUM).
This year's GCL23 project aims to bring together students from more than 20 world-class universities to form an interdisciplinary international team online. With the theme of SDG7 - Affordable and Clean Energy in the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals, the project will span over 15 days and include a range of activities such as master classes, innovation workshops, keynote speeches, industry guest sharing, tutoring, and other interactive sessions. Through these activities, participants will explore critical social problems, develop innovative solutions, collaborate with each other, and ultimately present their findings in the form of a group presentation.
The primary objective of this project is to enhance students' understanding and awareness of sustainable development goals across the globe. The project seeks to foster innovation, creativity, practical skills, cross-cultural cooperation, and a sense of global citizenship among students.
Three tracks will be set up in this challenge.
1.Accessibility
2.Resilience
3.Energy Usage and Efficiency

Testimony
Fan Jingjin of the School of Mechanical Engineering: This is a very unforgettable experience. It is my first time to boldly challenge transnational cooperation. I am the only Chinese in the whole team, and the rest of the teammates are from Singapore, India, Lebanon and the United Kingdom. This activity made me deeply understand the differences in the way of thinking of people in different countries, and exercised my ability from oral expression to thinking logic. I would like to thank Tsinghua X-lab and other host universities for providing this opportunity.
Leng Yanpeng, School of Architecture: The whole global challenge laboratory project activates the connection between individuals and global ideas. Through brainstorming case collection to business plan writing and video recording with teammates in three different time zones, makes me realize that global governance is inseparable from multi-field and multi-professional collaboration. Only through cooperation will allow us to explore more innovative solutions. Resolvive the immediate problem and excavate the more essential cause of the problem.
