Thirty-four students received the 2004 Tsinghua—SAMSUNG Scholarships at a ceremony in the Main Building on April 7.

Among the recipients were 20 undergraduate students and 14 graduate students.

Attending the ceremony were Tsinghua Vice President Cen Zhangzhi, Mr. Keun-hee Park, President and CEO of Great China, Samsung Group, as well as heads of Tsinghua’s undergraduate and graduate programs.

Mr. Park and Vice President Cen both spoke at the ceremony. Mr. Park described the development of Samsung in China and said that he hoped more Tsinghua graduates would work at Samsung in the future.

Vice President Cen congratulated the students on their achievement. “I hope that you can also take the awards as encouragement, work hard, and serve the society,” he told the scholarship winners.

Chen Yilun, a senior student from the Department of Electronic Engineering who was presented one of the scholarships, said he was proud of his award. “It’s encouraging and an honor,” Chen said.

Prior to the ceremony, Vice President Cen met with Mr. Park and had a friendly talk.
