Mr. Rick Harwig, Executive Vice President of Philips and Professor Amandus Lundqvist, President of Eindhoven University of Technology in Holland visited Tsinghua on July 5. President Gu Binglin and Vice President Kang Kejun met and had a friendly talk with the guests.

In the meeting, President Gu, Mr. Harwig and Professor Lundqvist introduced Tsinghua University, Philips and Eindhoven University of Technology respectively. Professor Gu said he hoped that more collaboration could be built with Eindhoven University of Technology.

Vice President Kang Kejun discussed with the guests the potential cooperation in the areas of new electronic devices, new electronic materials, solid state lighting and so on.

After the meeting, the delegation visited in groups some of the departments such as Dept. of Computer Science and Technology, Dept. of Material Science and Technology, Dept. of Chemistry, etc., and discussed with Tsinghua experts in selected fields.

Philips is one of the largest companies in the world. Famous for its products such as color TV, lighting, electric shaver, and so on，it is among the best of the successful companies in Europe.

Founded in 1956, Eindhoven University of Technology is one of the well-known Universities in Holland, enjoying great prestige both in Europe and in the world.
