Tsinghua wins special award in the 16th Beijing Invention and Innovation Competition

On May 30, the awarding ceremony of the 16th Beijing Invention and Innovation Competition (BIIC) was held online. Tsinghua University, as the leading unit, has 15 inventions that have won the awards.

The “Vehicle Predictive Cruise Control System based on Cloud Control Platform” by academician Li Keqiang's team from the School of Vehicle and Mobility won the only special award in the competition.

Tsinghua won a total of five among the 20 gold awards, making it the recommended unit with the largest number of high-level awards.

BIIC is a folk scientific and technological competition launched by the Beijing Association of Inventions for the first time nationwide, with the support of Beijing Municipal Science & Technology Commission and the China Association of Inventions.

The event encourages inventors and invention enthusiasts to participate. Inventions include articles for daily use, as well as technological innovations for social hot-spots and industrial needs. The competition usually lasts about half a year.

This year’s competition received 1,600 entries. After three rounds of expert review, 230 entries were awarded, including one special award, 20 gold, 70 silver and 139 bronze awards. About 748 entries were included in the finalist award list.
