Chinese President Xi Jinping Sends Congratulatory Letter on Tsinghua’s 105th Anniversary


Tsinghua University celebrated its 105th anniversary on April 24th, bringing together alumni from around the country and abroad for a weekend of reunions. On April 22nd, Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory letter to Tsinghua University, extending warm congratulations and best regards to all Tsinghua teachers, students, staff members and Tsinghua alumni prior to the University’s 105th anniversary. In his letter, President Xi stressed the importance of higher education in the country’s development and the future of the nation. He also expressed the hope that Tsinghua University could cultivate a wide variety of talents needed by the country and the people, and make greater contributions to China’s development and human civilization.

The University’s 105th anniversary was highlighted by arts exhibitions and many celebrations scheduled by different departments. What is more, during the 105th anniversary, the campus was not without its share of symposia and forums. From abstract concepts characterizing fundamental sciences, to cutting-edge technologies that have a direct bearing on national welfare and the people's livelihood, all have engaged the attention of both eminent scholars and young students. A dazzling variety of student activities including concerts, field and track events, and a technological innovation exhibition were also held throughout the weekend in honor of the returned alumni.
