Professor Chen Lai gives the second session of "Humanities at Tsinghua": Keep watch for traditional Chinese values


At seven in the afternoon, March 27th, Chen Lai, a distinguished scholar of Chinese ancient learning gave a most enlightening speech on the campus, “Keep watch for traditional Chinese values”. Chen, dean of the College of Chinese Ancient Studies, is a renowned contemporary Chinese philosopher and historian of philosophy, and also a consequential figure in the lineage of philosophy of Tsinghua school.

The series of speeches in the name of “humanities at Tsinghua” is a cultural initiative launched by Tsinghua with far-reaching consequences. Outstanding scholars in humanities are regularly invited to give public talks at the Tsinghua College, where both classics in traditional learning and valuable, unique research discoveries can face the multitudes of Tsinghua students in the most immediate, tangible way.

This series of speeches will carry the torch for the rich humanistic history of Tsinghua in the past 100 years, while at the same time strike out a new direction for the development of humanities at Tsinghua. The first session was held on 10th, January 2016, which is expected to be followed by a new session on a monthly basis.
