Four Tsinghua Faculty Elected to CAS and CAE

The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) announced on December 19th that four Tsinghua faculty had been selected as new CAS and CAE members.

The new CAS members are Professor Shi Yigong from the School of Life Sciences, and Professor Qiu Yong from the Department of Chemistry. The new CAE members are Professor You Zheng from the Department of Precision Instrument, and Professor Nie Jianguo from the Department of Civil Engineering.

Up to now, Tsinghua has 41 members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and 34 members of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.

Professor Zhang Shoucheng from Stanford, a member of Tsinghua “Thousand Youth Talents Plan” and a professor of Tsinghua Institute for Advanced Study was selected as a foreign member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

In addition, five Tsinghua alumni were selected as members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and four alumni were selected as members of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
