China-U.S. University Sports Week Opens

The China-U.S. University Sports Week opened at Tsinghua on August 25.

Ms. Zhang Xiuqin, Director-General of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges, Ministry of Education, Mr. Thomas Hodges, Minister Counselor of U.S. Embassy in China, Mr. Yang Liguo, Executive Vice-President and Secretary General of the Federation of University Sports of China, Mr. Larry Scott, Commissioner of Pacific-12 Conference, Ms. Delise O’Meally, Director of Governmance and International Affairs, NCAA, Mr Xu Fei, Vice President of Shanghai Jiaotong University, and Mr. Benjamin Howland, Head Coach of UCLA Basketball Team, attended the launching ceremony. Ms. Chen Xu, Vice Chairperson of Tsinghua University Council, attended the ceremony.

After the culture performances by Chinese and American college students, a friendship basketball game was held between Tsinghua University and University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
