Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping Inspects Tsinghua University
Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping visited Tsinghua University from June 19 to 20. Liu Qi, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Party Chief of Beijing; Liu Yandong, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and State Councilor; Yuan Guiren, Minister of Education; Guo Jinlong, Beijing’s Mayor; Chen Jining, Tsinghua University’s President, and Hu Heping, Tsinghua University Council Chairman accompanied the inspection.
First, Xi visited the university's history hall and the scientific research exhibition. When meeting with a group of renowned professors, Xi spoke highly of their contributions to the country and expressed hope that they could make more progress in talent cultivation and scientific and technological innovation.
While talking to some Tsinghua students, Xi told them to be modest when making progress and be brave when facing difficulties. He encouraged them to cultivate creative thinking in their study and future work and have all-round development.
Xi also inspected the Unearthed Research and Protection Center.
Later, Xi met with teachers and students in the Department of Chemical Engineering, where he had once studied from 1975 to 1979.
