WEF Founder and Executive Chairman Klaus Schwab Visits Tsinghua
World Economic Forum (WEF) Founder and Executive Chairman Klaus Schwab visited Tsinghua University on May 28 and delivered a speech entitled "Leadership in the New World" in the Tsinghua global vision lecture series.
Tsinghua President Chen Jining had a discussion with Mr. Schwab prior to his speech. During the talk, President Chen briefed Mr. Schwab on Tsinghua’s student cultivation, interdisciplinary development, and international cooperation.
President Chen told Mr. Schwab that Tsinghua attaches great importance to its students having more overseas exchanges or overseas study experience and learning more about the culture of other countries. He noted that the university also encourages its faculty members to enroll in research that addresses global challenges.
Mr. Schwab briefly introduced the recent development of the WEF. The two also exchanged ideas on university responsibility in dealing with global challenges and issues related to summer schools. They expressed the hope that more collaboration could be built between Tsinghua and the WEF and discussed their future cooperation.
After his speech, Mr. Schwab answered several questions from students.
Mr. Schwab had previously visited Tsinghua in September of 2008.
