Waseda University Day Held at Tsinghua

The Waseda University Day at Tsinghua, a major communication event between Tsinghua University and Waseda University, an eminent institution in Japan, was held at Tsinghua on November 28.
Tsinghua University President Gu Binglin had a discussion that morning with Professor Kaoru KAMATA, his counterpart at Waseda University, prior to the opening ceremony. The two leaders exchanged ideas on future cooperation between their universities. Professor Katsuichi UCHIDA, Vice President of Waseda University and Tsinghua University Vice President Yuan Si were also present at the discussion.
In his address at the opening ceremony, President Gu extended a warm welcome to the guests from Waseda University. He expressed his hope that the University Day would further promote cooperation and exchange between Tsinghua and Waseda University. He hoped that the two universities would contribute to solving world challenges through their cooperation.
Professor Kaoru KAMATA added that the exchanges between Waseda University and Tsinghua have a long history and the University Day held today would make the cooperation deeper. He also said to solve global issues including climate change and poverty through cooperation is the mission of a university.
Professor Katsuichi UCHIDA later delivered a speech on internationalization and higher education policy of Japanese universities.
The Waseda University at Tsinghua Day featured speeches and academic workshops in such fields as law, information sciences, chemistry, hydraulic power, and economics and management. These provided opportunities for professors from both universities to communicate and exchange research ideas.
The Tsinghua University Day was held in Waseda University in May of 2010.
