More than 1,300 graduate students received degrees at Tsinghua University's 2011 Spring Graduate Commencement Ceremony on the morning of January 17th. Among them, 337 earned doctorates and 1,023 master's degrees.

Tsinghua President and Chairman of the Degree Conferral Committee Gu Binglin and University Council Chairman Hu Heping, together with other university leaders, presented degrees and certificates to the new graduates.

President Gu delivered the commencement address. On behalf of the University, he congratulated the graduates and commended them for their hard work and their contributions to the development of Tsinghua. He encouraged the students to carry forward the Tsinghua spirit of Patriotism, Devotion and Pursuing Excellence in their future work. He then urged them to continue to learn throughout their lives and be innovative in their study and work. President Gu concluded by telling the students to be courageous, shoulder responsibilities, and contribute to the development of society.
