Tsinghua University President Gu Binglin and University Council Chairman Hu Heping together with  other university officials presided over a welcoming ceremony for 2009's new graduate students on the morning of September 4.

President Gu congratulated the new students in his welcome address. He expressed several hopes for them. He urged them to pursue lofty ideals and encouraged them to broaden their horizons. And finally, he told them to be rigorous in their studies and research.

Tsinghua University registered 4,712 new graduate students on September 2.
