Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao visited Tsinghua University on May 3rd to celebrate Youth Day with faculty and students. He first visited the Tsinghua University Network Research Center and the Center for Excavated Texts Research and Preservation at Tsinghua and later spoke with Tsinghua students. The Network Research Center directs the construction, operation and management of the CNGI-CERNET2/6IX, the backbone network of the China Next-Generation Internet (CNGI).

State Councilor Liu Yandong, Minister of Education Zhou Ji, Minister of Human Resources and Social Security Yin Weimin, Director of the Research Office of the State Council Xie Fuzhan, Deputy Secretary General of the State Council and Director of the Prime Minister's Office Qiu Xiao-Xiong, Deputy Secretary General of the State Council Xiang Zhaolun, Vice Minister of Education Chen Xi, and Vice Director of the Research Office of the State Council Tian Xuebin accompanied Premier Wen on his visit. Tsinghua University President Gu Binglin and Tsinghua University Council Chairman Hu Heping received the delegation and hosted the visit.
