Tsinghua University’s Department of Computer Science and Technology celebrated its 50th anniversary with a ceremony attended by over 1,700 academicians, department alumni and guests on October 18.

Tsinghua Deputy President Chen Jining extended congratulations to the Department of Computer Science and Technology. Tsinghua Vice President Zhang Fengchang, academicians Zhang Xiaoxiang, Jin Yilian, Yang Fuqing, and Ni Guangnan, and Dean of the Department of Computer Science and Technology Sun Maosong were also in attendance at the event.

Founded in 1958, Tsinghua University’s Department of Computer Science and Technology is known for its significant achievements and key contributions to the dvelopment of the computer industry in China. After 40 years, the Department has become the strongest and most influential among its counterparts from the nation’s other universities. It plays a strategic role in the development of information technology as an integral part of China's rapidly developing economy.
