The backbone network of the China next-generation Internet, CNGI-CERNET2/6IX, was accredited China’s top scientific development in 2006, as the annual list of “Top Ten Scientific Events” was unveiled in Beijing January 21, voted out by 565 scientists from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
CNGI-CERNET2/6IX, undertaken by Tsinghua and 24 other universities, runs IPv6 protocol and connects 25 PoPs distributed in 20 cities around China with the speed of 2.5Gbps/10Gbps.
