Hungarian Prime Minister Gives Speech on “Tradition and Progress”

 

Visiting Hungarian Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsány gave a speech on “Tradition and Progress” at Tsinghua September 9.

Prior to the speech, Tsinghua President Gu Binglin met with Prime Minister Gyurcsány and gave a brief outline of the university’s history, faculty and students. The Chinese Ambassador to Hungary Zhu Zushou, Vice Minister of Education Zhang Xinsheng and Tsinghua Vice President Xie Weihe also attended the event.

 

Prime Minister Gyurcsány told the crowd that understanding and cooperation play an important role in international relations.

 

 

He answered several questions from students on topics ranging from cooperation between Hungary and China in the tourism industry to Sino-Hungarian relations. He said he hoped the two countries could establish more joint projects in areas of information industry, technology, and education.

Mr. Ferenc Gyurcsány was born in 1961 and became Prime Minister of Hungary in 2004.
