Tsinghua celebrated its 94th anniversary April 24, bringing together alumni from around the country and abroad for a weekend of reunions.
President Gu Binglin reviewed the achievements of the university in 2004 in his annual anniversary address, and extended Tsinghua’s best regards to all the alumni. He also thanked them for the contributions they have made toward the development of their alma mater.
“The alumni play an important role in the construction and development of the university,” he said.
The celebration was highlighted by alumni dinner, arts exhibitions, academic forums, and various celebrations scheduled by different departments. A series of student activities including concerts, field and track events, a diving performance, and the technological innovation exhibition were also held throughout the weekend.
Tsinghua was founded in 1911 as a preparatory school for students who would be sent by the government to study in the United States.
