Prof. Shirley M. Tilghman, President of Princeton University visited Tsinghua University on Oct. 29. Tsinghua President Gu Binglin met and talked with Prof. Tilghman. Prof. C. N. Yang, the Nobel Prize Winner and honorary director of Center for Advanced Studies, Prof. Andrew Chi-chih Yao , Professor of Center for Advanced Studies, and Wen C. Fong, Chair Professor of Center for Advanced Studies attended the meeting.
During their talk, the two sides exchanged ideas on Chinese Art and Archaeology, energy, information science and technology, public policy and management, and discussed the cooperation through faculty exchange and joint research program.
Prof. Tilghman paid visits to Center for Advanced Studies, the Key Laboratory of Ministry of Education on Protein Science, the Tsinghua-BP Clean Energy Research and Education Center , School of Public Policy and Management, as well as students' dormitories respectively.
Shirley M. Tilghman was elected Princeton University 's 19th president on May 5, 2001 , and assumed office on June 15, 2001 . An exceptional teacher and a world-renowned scholar and leader in the field of molecular biology, she served on the Princeton faculty for 15 years before being named president.
