President Gu visits Japan Cooperative agreements signed

A recent four-day visit to Japan, headed by President Gu Binglin, took a group of university leaders and faculty to several top Japanese universities and globally known companies to seal various cooperative agreements.

During the trip Feb. 23-26, President Gu signed a series of agreements with the Japanese universities, including the renewal of the contract with Waseda University for full-scale cooperation between the two schools, an agreement to launch cooperation with Keio University, and a protocol with Tokyo Institute of Technology for cooperation in graduate education programs.

Meanwhile, a new plan designed to enhance cooperation between Sony Corporation, Toshiba Corporation and Tsinghua University, was put forward in the formal meeting between President Gu and the leaders of those companies.

President Gu also addressed the opening of a seminar on Sustainable Development in China and the Future of Sino-Japanese Cooperation. A five-year cooperation plan involving interdisciplinary research in the fields of energy, environment and economics was launched by Keio University and Tsinghua prior to the seminar.
