Center for Mass Spectrometer, Tsinghua University

Center for Mass Spectrometer (CMS), Tsinghua University is jointly built by the Department of Precision Instrument and Mechanology and the Department of Chemistry with reliance on the former. Under the leadership of CMS Management Committee, CMS implements the director accountability system in which the well-known instrument scientist and academician Jin Guofan serves as CMS Director. Head of the Analysis Center of Tsinghua University Professor Zhang Xinrong and Deputy Head of Precision Instrument and Mechanology and Researcher Wang Xiaohao serve as CMS Deputy Director. Deputy Party Secretary of Tsinghua University, Professor Chen Xu is appointed as Director of CMS Management Committee, while academician Zhang Xi and Professor You Zheng hold the position of Deputy Director.

CMS of Tsinghua University develops various types of analytical instruments with independent intellectual property rights in collaboration with National Institute of Metrology (NIM), Purdue University, as well as other superior domestic research institutions and scientific instrument companies. Its focus is put on mass spectrometers which are the hottest in international study and in most demand at home. CMS’ strategic goal is to build itself into the most authoritative base for mass spectrometry and mass spectrometer innovation and research and the first-class innovation platform for mass spectrometer technology. CMS is expected to grow into a national mass spectrometry research center that stimulates the creation and development of domestic mass spectrometer technology innovation alliance.

CMS is a multidisciplinary organization based on the Mass Spectrometer Research Unit of Department of Precision Instrument and Mechanology, and the Analysis Center research team of Department of Chemistry. This interdisciplinary, high-level research team also involves youth teachers and post-doctoral researchers from the internationally prominent spectrometer research organization Aston Laboratory of Purdue University, research staff concerned from Department of Electronic Engineering and Department of Physics of Tsinghua University, as well as NIM. CMS will continue to introduce excellent talents in spectrometer research and development. By means of continuous follow-up construction, CMS will be built into the national team for mass spectrometer study.

CMS laboratory is located in Room 1306, building 9003, Tsinghua University.
