On the morning of January 6, the "2019 Information Optics Frontier Summit Forum" and "Celebration of the 68th Anniversary of Academician Jin Guofan's Research Work" were held in the main building back hall. Jin Guofan served as the chairman of the forum. Chen Xu, secretary of the school party committee, Zhao Xueyan, secretary general of the China Optical Engineering Society, and nearly 20 academicians attended the meeting. You Zheng, vice president of Tsinghua University, presided over the opening ceremony of the forum.

Four experts in the field of information optics gave reports during the academic report session, who are Gu Min from Melbourne Institute of Technology, Australia, Luo Xiangang, researcher at the Institute of Optoelectronic Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Wang Yongtian, professor at Beijing Institute of Technology, and Sun Hongbo, professor at the Department of Precision Instruments at Tsinghua University, respectively.

Information optics is an interdisciplinary subject combining modern optics and information science.
